Attendance

Private Lessons
There will be 36 individual lessons offered during the year and summer lessons according to schedules. A private lesson missed or canceled at any time by the student for any reason will not be rescheduled, nor will tuition be refunded. However, students who miss a lesson may pursue the following options.

a) Trade lessons with another student of the same private teacher
b) If the teacher has no absences during the semester, the student will be given the option of a make-up lesson during the scheduled make-up week.

Group Lessons
Attendance at group class is mandatory and classes will be held twice a month (please see Parent Resources for the schedule). If absences from Group Class exceed 3 per semester then the student will not be invited to play in the Group Recital. Dress rehearsal attendance is also necessary for participation in the recital. Please contact your Group Class teacher in advance if a class must be missed.

Recital Piece Procedures

Choosing Solo Recital Pieces
Solo Recital - Students will pick their solo piece with their teacher a month prior to the Solo Recital. Choosing the piece is at the teacher’s discretion and must be at least two complete pieces before the current working piece.

Check Off Process for Group Recitals
In order to ensure review and excellence in the Group Recital, students are required to check off each piece rehearsed in Group Class that semester with their private teacher. Pieces not checked off will be observed rather than performed. This will ensure that students will have only positive and prepared performance experiences.
